While sharing this video, it is being written that slogans were raised against Rahul Gandhi in Manipur. A user named Srinivas Aman on the social media platform Exp posted the viral video. The Hindi translation of what he wrote is as follows: “Rahul Gandhi was asked to go back by the people of Manipur due to his provocative statement because there was a possibility of new controversies arising from his speech. This is a video of July 8, 2024. That is why Rahul had to go back.”
Gayatri, who writes “Bharat Ki Beti” after her name, also made similar claims. She wrote, “Rahul Gandhi was asked to leave Manipur due to his provocative speech.” Many users have shared this video.
Investigation and Findings.
Is this video of sloganeering against Rahul Gandhi from his recent Manipur tour? We did not have to make much effort to find out the truth. On the same platform where it was claimed that the video is from the recent Manipur tour, we wrote ‘Go Back’ and scrolled down a little. We found a post made on January 21, 2024, from the handle of a News Agency. It contains the same video of Rahul which is being claimed to be from Manipur.
Real Source of the Video.
The video is from Naga in Assam where people raised slogans of ‘Go Back’ and other protests against Rahul. The video is from the time when Rahul was going on the Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra.
Context of the Incident.
According to a report published on January 22, 2024, this incident happened in a restaurant in Amgan when Rahul Gandhi, along with some other leaders, had stopped there to rest at night. A crowd standing there raised slogans against Rahul Gandhi and waved posters which read “Anya Yatra Rakibal Go Back.”
After this protest, the security personnel took Rahul Gandhi and other leaders out of the safe restroom. This entire incident was covered by many media organizations including Aaj Tak. Let us tell you, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra started from Thaubal in Manipur on January 14, 2024. This journey started from the eastern corner of the country and ended in Mumbai on March 20 in the west.
Conclusion.
Overall, the claim of slogans of “Go Back” being raised during Rahul Gandhi’s recent Manipur visit is misleading. The video going viral is about six months old and from Assam.
