Jio Tariff Hikes. We have told you in full detail here as per the report.
After the recent auction, telecom companies are gearing up to increase their tariff rates. Reliance Jio has announced a hike, setting a trend for other companies to follow suit. As the largest telecom company in the country, Jio’s decision is expected to influence industry standards. Sources indicate potential increases of up to twenty-five percent across the board.
Reliance Jio has already adjusted the prices of its prepaid and postpaid plans, effective from July, with increases ranging from fifteen to twenty-five percent. For instance, the popular Rs. 249 plan, which currently offers 1.5 GB of data daily for 28 days, will now cost Rs. 299. Meanwhile, the cheapest plan, currently priced at Rs. 155, will rise to Rs. 189. The Rs. 209 plan will increase to Rs. 248, and the existing Rs. 299 plan will now cost Rs. 399.
On the higher end, the Rs. 349 plan, previously available for Rs. 666, will now cost Rs. 799 from July 3rd, offering 1.5 GB of data daily with an 84-day validity. Similarly, the Rs. 999 plan will now be priced at Rs. 1,199. The annual plan, previously priced at Rs. 2,999, will now cost Rs. 3,599.
This move is expected to impact consumers directly, potentially leading to higher mobile bills. It comes after all telecom companies increased their tariffs by over twenty percent in December 2021. Prior to this, Jio’s last tariff hike was in 2019, marking a significant adjustment since its launch in 2016, with increases ranging from 20 to 40 percent at that time.
