Israel-Hamas Conflict: Iranian Missile Factory Destroyed in Syria.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas is escalating. Recently, Israel claimed to have destroyed an underground Iranian missile factory located in Syria. This attack took place in the Hama province of Syria, near the border with Lebanon.
According to Israel, the U.S. was informed about this operation in advance, and the U.S. did not raise any objections. Israel’s primary objective behind destroying this factory was to stop the production of medium-range missiles by Iran and Hezbollah. However, the Israeli government has not yet made any official statement regarding the incident.
The Reason Behind the Attack.
According to media reports, Syrian military sources have confirmed the attack. The Syrian military stated that several military sites were targeted, and 18 people were killed in the operation. Reports suggest that Iran had started the construction of this missile factory approximately six years ago.
This is not the first time Israel has carried out such strikes in Syria. In 2017, Israeli jets targeted a military base where chemical weapons and missiles were being manufactured. Additionally, in 2023, Israel conducted several airstrikes in Syria, resulting in the deaths of over 200 people.
Israeli Operations Against Hamas and Iran.
In July 2023, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran. Prior to this, in April 2023, Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military sites in Damascus, Syria, which resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals. Several missiles were also used in this operation, most of which were intercepted by the Syrian defense system.
Iran has strongly condemned Haniyeh’s assassination and the other attacks. It remains to be seen whether these incidents will further escalate tensions, potentially leading to a larger conflict in the region.
