Indore Rape Case.
In a disturbing incident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a gang rape case involving two army trainee officers and their female friends has sparked significant controversy. The incident occurred on the night of September 11 in Mahu, when six accused individuals allegedly assaulted the four victims and demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh. They sent one of the female friends and an officer to collect the money while keeping the other two hostage. The hostages managed to escape and inform their commandant, leading to police intervention.

Upon receiving the report, the police promptly arrived at the scene but found that the accused had already fled. They successfully rescued the trainee officers and the female friend, who was in poor condition and required hospitalization. According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, there were three different statements recorded by the police:
- First Statement (September 11, 9 PM): A witness, Nimish Agarwal, reported that the woman who was held hostage was assaulted.
- Second Statement (September 11, 1 AM): Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi stated that the woman had denied being raped.
- Third Statement (September 12 Morning): The Rural SP confirmed that cases of assault, robbery, and extortion were filed, and a rape case was also registered based on the army officer’s statement.
The police began a search for the fleeing suspects and eventually apprehended them after an extensive manhunt.
Political Repercussions.
The case has heated up the political climate, with Jitu Patwari, the President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, accusing BJP leaders and their relatives of involvement. Patwari claimed that BJP workers, including those related to Ram Singh Bhammar, a prominent BJP figure, were connected to the incident.
In response to the allegations, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, condemned the incident and criticized the law and order situation in BJP-ruled states. He called for a serious reflection by both society and the government.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav defended the government’s actions, stating that they have acted swiftly to apprehend the culprits and are committed to ensuring justice. He also criticized Rahul Gandhi for his alleged ignorance of issues in his own government.
